Ironsleep Study

This study is being conducted in collaboration with GIGA Human Imaging.

The Cyclotron Research Center is recruiting volunteers for a study aimed at better understanding the link between sleep, the brain, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Why participate?

Help advance research and improve the detection and prevention of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases;
Learn more about sleep, the brain, and neuroscience;
A 6-step experience
Initial interview and computer-based questionnaires (2 hours);
First night at the Center and first MRI scan the next morning;
Wearing a polysomnography device at home;
Second night at the Center and second MRI scan the next morning;
3-week sleep rhythm monitoring using an activity tracker wristband;
Final interview and memory tests (2 hours).

Participation criteria

Control participants and patients with restless legs syndrome:

Be between 18 and 75 years of age;
Be in good health with no history of neurological or psychiatric disorders;
Consume less than 3 units of caffeine per day and 14 units of alcohol per week;
Not take antidepressants, beta-blockers, or sleeping pills regularly;
BMI less than 18 or greater than 29

Parkinson's patients:

Have been diagnosed with the primary form of the disease (no atypical form)
Be in the early or moderate stages of the disease
Slight tremor or being treated with levodopa
Not taking psychotropic medication
No addiction or other serious neurological history

Patients with REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD):

Have been diagnosed with the primary form of the disease (no atypical form)
Not taking psychotropic medication, antidepressants, or beta-blockers
No addiction or other serious neurological history
